Dolley Madison First Spouse Gold Coin
The 2007 Dolley Madison First Spouse Gold Coin represented the fourth issue of the First Spouse Gold Coin Program to honor the First Ladies of the United States. It was also the final release of the year 2007.The obverse of the coin, designed and sculpted by Don Everhart, features a portrait of the First Lady. The reverse of the coin, designed by Joel Iskowitz and sculpted by Don Everhart, depicts Dolley Madison saving the Cabinet papers and Gilbert Stuart picture of George Washington as British troops approached the White House.
Coins were released on November 19, 2007 and limited to a maximum authorized mintage of 40,000. The coins eventually sold a combined total of 30,896 pieces.
